The Shop - take 2

the new nest for my bird

My wife and I decided it was time to "down size" our house, kids are moving out and too much yard to take care of so Aug 7, 2004 was moving day. The down side is I lost my heated basement work area, the up side is all my work space is all together in a 3+ car garage. Now all I have to do is finish finding places for all the stuff that ended up in the garage after the move.

From the outside looking in the double door. The garage is L shaped with an area extending back from the 3rd bay.

The third bay from the outside. This is the primary airplane space.

Trial fit of one of our autos. Lets see just how much room there really is.

Looking out from the extended portion of the 3rd bay. This is the space I get to claim for the airplane. The wife does want her car in the garage you know. Just wait until it is time to fit the wings, maybe I'll be able to negotiate a new lease for a short period of time.

This is how it looks a month after moving, there is a space for one car I just gotta make space for the airplane. Compare these to the images above.

Storage ... Captain, we need more storage. Utilizing the wasted space above the garage doors.

A fiber glass storage rack. There is space below to store the 2x4 sheets of foam.

4/16/2005 I have a temporary fix for no heat in the garage. I built a temporary frame with 3/4" PVC pipe and covered it with 4mil plastic. I have two 1500 watt heaters that keep the temps above 70 degrees. Later this summer I plan on installing a gas heater and the pipe will be used for the irrigation system in the yard (well, that's the plan anyway ).
